Involving schools in the fight against food wastage is an important step in tackling the food wastage problem ("NEA to rope in schools in fight against food waste"; Dec 3).

The next generation needs to develop good habits from an early age.

This education, coupled with the conversion of waste food into compost are all steps in the right direction.

However, the older generation of Singaporeans has a part to play as well.

They, too, must have an attitude change, as they are the role models for the younger generation.
