I was recently convinced by a street marketer to sign up for a CIMB credit card. I understood that I would get a 3.8 per cent cash rebate when I use the card at certain home furnishing and electrical appliances merchants.
After waiting for more than two weeks, I received the card. However, there was no list of retailers where I could enjoy the rebate.
CIMB's customer service officer was able to give me only a list of merchant codes. But when I inquired with merchants like Courts, Harvey Norman and Challenger, they were not able to tell me their merchant codes.
CIMB should provide cardholders with a list of retailers from which they can get the rebates. Cardholders should not have to depend on luck in order to pick the right retailers.
