It is time for Singapore to set a higher standard for the cleanliness of our public toilets.

Many toilets are dirty and suggest that the people here have bad habits. I cannot imagine what tourists will think if they visit such disgusting toilets here.

It is also dangerous if people decide to use squatting toilets because the sitting ones are dirty. Users, especially the elderly, may end up falling when they try to squat.

All toilets should be checked to ensure they have a good flushing system. Too often, the flushing system is too weak, and broken systems remain unreported and unrepaired.

I hope the authorities can look into this issue. There is a lot of room for improvement in our public toilets. A stricter monitoring regime will yield a higher standard.
