I once bought a group of deals from StreetDeal which were not honoured, and the company has refused to refund the money ("'Membership fee' riles online shopper/Shopping refund 'in credit'"; Aug 17).
Customers of sites like StreetDeal are forced to take up costly monthly subscriptions in order to qualify for deals. Often, the deal is found to be not available, but the site will continue charging the monthly subscription.
While various websites have been set up to gather support for the victims, can the authorities do more to regulate online businesses?
