Do more to help Tamil Nadu flood victims

I was delighted to hear that Singapore supports the people of Tamil Nadu as severe floods affect the Indian state ("S'pore sends letter of support; $105k in relief committed"; Dec 6).

People there are suffering without food, medication, proper clothing and lodging. This can turn into serious health issues and result in more casualties.

I appeal to Singaporeans and our Government to consider doing more to help our friends in Tamil Nadu. I also appeal to organisations to provide the most needed items, like food, water and clothing.

Many of our ancestors, including my forefathers, came from Tamil Nadu and they helped to build Singapore to what it is now. Much of the infrastructure we currently enjoy was built by labourers from this state.

I hope Singaporeans can rally together to assist the flood victims in any way they can during this difficult period.
