I am heartened by the recent push for more people to do charity work or contribute to charitable causes, with either their time or money.
However, everyone engaging in charity work must remember the dictum that "charity begins at home".
I know of many cases where charity does not begin at home. There are individuals who are active in external charity work but neglect their elderly grandparents.
Let us teach our children right: That charity is not just about fun and visibility in social media.
Let us teach our children to practise charity at home, towards elderly parents and grandparents, for example, before venturing into volunteer or charitable work for other seniors.
