In the General Insurance Association of Singapore's (GIA) reply ("A long way to go in weeding out inflated and fraudulent claims"; Nov 23), it identified the root cause of the problem of fraudulent claims, which is "collusion between motor surveyors and unethical workshops".
It appears that government intervention is needed. So why not set up a panel involving GIA, surveyors and government agencies to find the solution to this problem once and for all?
If the professionalism of surveyors is in question, deal with it in the same way rogue insurance or property agents are dealt with.
The Motor Claims Framework was introduced to reduce third-party fraudulent claims, but it seems unable to solve the problem.
We need to find a better solution to reduce unnecessary cost and resources.
