Alert passengers in times of bus service disruption

I was on the way back from work on the night of June 17 when the bus driver told me that the bus would not be stopping outside Tiong Bahru Plaza because a tree had fallen along Tiong Bahru Road.

I alighted outside Tiong Bahru Park and walked along the road to see the fallen tree outside Tiong Bahru Market. Workers were busy cutting up the tree.

On the way, I realised that there were a lot of people still waiting for buses that had been rerouted.

There was no announcement on the bus arrival board at the bus stop, and many passengers were congregating, not knowing that no buses would be arriving.

This is disappointing, given our Smart Nation push. The bus services affected should be shown on the bus arrival boards at bus stops.

Bus operators should also send officers to the bus stops to direct passengers to take alternative transport, such as the MRT, instead.
