Who: Kumar Pillay Thangavalu, 56, a customer application support expert.

My family: Married to a housewife, 51, with a son, 28.

My home: A private apartment in Tampines.

My passions: Watching football, brisk walking, travelling and reading.

I started writing to the Forum page...: More than 15 years ago.

What I write about: A wide range of topics, from policies on housing, healthcare and the rising cost of living, to issues that matter to people living in the heartland.

Why I write: To express my views on the various political and social issues reported.

I also write to offer feedback on letters written by others. I believe such exchanges can be healthy and constructive. Such feedback may provide more insight on the topics discussed.

I read the Forum page because...: It provides an update on how various matters - such as political, housing and medical issues - are viewed by fellow contributors. The letters published also show me how good articles are written - like how concisely they are presented as well as the vocabulary used - which can help me improve my writing.

My wish for Singapore: So much has been achieved in such a short time by this little red dot. My wish is to see that Singaporeans, especially the younger generation, continue to work hard and excel in order for this nation to continue to be vibrant and successful.
