Who: Dipa Swaminathan, 44, a lawyer.

My family: Married to Vish Srinivasan, a senior director at a semiconductor company and "part-time rock star", with two children: Vihaan, 10, and Kairav, eight.

My home: A black and white bungalow.

My passions: Reading, travel, and watching tennis.

I first started writing to the Forum page...: In 1998.

What I write about: Focus is on social justice topics, such as animal rights as well as issues to do with migrant workers.

Why I write: To create awareness and, hopefully, bring about some change.

I read the Forum page because...: I like to see Singaporeans and other writers express their views, and play an active and engaged role in society.

My wish for Singapore: That people become more tolerant and accepting of one another, and aspire to higher ideals. And behave better on the roads.
