Work together to stop dengue

I am concerned by the news that dengue cases are on the rise here ("Dengue warning as cases increase"; July 22).

The National Environment Agency (NEA) says the disease is under control, but media reports seem to tell a different story. With 263 cases reported in the week of July 13 and 272 the week before that, it appears that this outbreak could be worse than earlier ones.

How does the NEA cluster cases of dengue? What steps are being taken to minimise the outbreak?

The Ministry of Health and the NEA need to work in tandem to resolve these issues and provide assurance to the public. At the same time, the public needs to be alert, take precautionary measures and be proactive in curbing dengue.

My two sons and I were recently diagnosed with dengue. Having been through the disease, I do not want more Singaporeans to suffer during this difficult period.

Let us work in harmony to eradicate dengue.
