Based on news reports, the F-35 project is many years behind schedule and billions of dollars over budget, and the jet is rife with problems that degrade its operational capabilities ("F-35 fighter jet makes sense" by Mr Roy Goh Hin Soon; Tuesday).

Until the manufacturer is able to resolve the problems, Singapore should not commit to buying it.
