Transport system can be further protected

Recently, there have been numerous terror attacks around the world that have taken many lives and impacted many people.

Singaporeans need to maintain a united front to keep terrorism at bay.

Although we have, so far, managed to foil plans to attack Singapore, we cannot be complacent.

We must strengthen our security and defence, especially in our transport system.

We can do this by blocking the space under the seats in MRT/LRT carriages, to prevent anyone from hiding any weapons or bombs there.

We can station more security personnel at bus interchanges and MRT stations, especially during peak hours.

Closed-circuit television cameras can also be installed at crowded bus stops.

The Government, defence force and ministries have done well in keeping our vulnerable city-state safe. However, more can be done to secure our transport system.
