Teens must learn to appreciate water

The huge drop in the water levels in Johor's Linggiu Reservoir is worrying ("Water levels in Linggiu Reservoir hit new low"; last Wednesday).

Despite having many reservoirs and desalination plants here, we are not fully water-independent yet. Hence, it is important for us to conserve this precious resource.

Teenagers here are fortunate to not have experienced a lack of water. However, this has led to teens being ignorant about the importance of this resource, and they do not appreciate and conserve it.

We need to realise the severity of this problem, stop taking water for granted and start doing our little part to help with this situation.
