Tap nostalgia factor

What makes night markets hold a special place in Singaporeans' hearts is the sense of nostalgia, and this could be the focus to revive the pasar malam culture ("Pasar malam theme park to save night markets?"; Wednesday).

Uncle Ringo rides, traditional games and the sale of old favourites, such as tu tu kueh and Ramly burgers, will be crowd-pullers.

Having small tables and chairs at the side would also bring back a sense of dining of yesteryear.

Cultural performances can also be included.

Commercialising night markets may be able to attract tourists in the short term, but drawing the local crowd is a more sustainable solution.
