The Ministry of Education should be praised for its good sense in closing schools last Friday, when PSI levels had earlier been hovering around the very unhealthy levels ("Haze forces closure of schools across S'pore"; last Friday).
However, in my neighbourhood, chemical fogging went on as usual.
Two houses in my neighbourhood had their compounds fogged, sending thick smoke to permeate the thick haze, a double whammy that rendered the area hardly habitable.
The National Environment Agency should suspend chemical fogging on days with thick haze.
I doubt adult mosquitoes will be about when the haze is thick, so there is no need to fog.
At any rate, chemical fogging is futile and harmful.
