Subsidise flu vaccination for pioneers

The Ministry of Health recommends that those aged 65 or older as well as those with chronic medical diseases should be vaccinated against influenza.

However, older people are the ones most likely to have chronic diseases, and at least some of them are not getting vaccinated due to financial considerations.

Would the ministry consider adding a subsidy for influenza vaccination to the Pioneer Generation Package?

Doing so will likely enable more pioneers to be vaccinated.

Reducing acute respiratory infections and related complications among them will have the added benefit of reducing polyclinic and emergency department attendances in the long term.
