Start change in Singapore football with team management

With the debacle surrounding Singapore's exit from the Asean Football Federation Suzuki Cup, it is high time for a shake-up at the Football Association of Singapore ("Fresh impetus badly needed", Dec 11; and "A lion's share of problems for S'pore", Nov 27).

A change in office-bearers is expected to be effected through a vote soon. However, the change that can start now is with the team management. Coach V. Sundramoorthy has displayed time and time again that he is not ready for the task. Now, his defensive tactics have proved fruitless and he should shoulder the blame for the poor display.

Indonesia is savouring the success of hiring a proven coach in Alfred Riedl, as the team grows from strength to strength.

Singapore may need to turn to a big-name foreign coach, such as Peter White or Philippe Troussier, who is familiar with Asian football.
