Seat-hogging a bigger problem

Reserving seats at hawker centres is not as bad as seat-hogging (Give hawker centre 'chope' culture the chop; March 20).

It is exasperating to see two or three diners occupying a whole table meant for six, especially when they place their personal belongings, such as shopping bags and IT gadgets, on unoccupied chairs.

This ungracious act deprives others of the seats.

It also does not help that some customers shun sitting with strangers at the same table for various reasons.
