Schemes to help pioneers save on grocery bill

We thank Ms Juliana Ang Hiok Lian for her feedback ("Extend pioneers' supermarket discount an additional day"; Tuesday).

FairPrice recognises the contributions of our pioneers, and launched the Pioneers OK! programme last year to offer priority checkout queues every day, as well as the 3 per cent Pioneer Generation (PG) discount on Mondays to show our appreciation.

This is in addition to the 2 per cent seniors' discount every Tuesday, which was introduced more than 10 years ago. PG members can enjoy discounts on both Mondays and Tuesdays, to maximise their savings.

Our staff at FairPrice stores are also ready to render assistance to elderly shoppers who require help with retrieving and packing their groceries.

Beyond this, shoppers can also enjoy multiple discount schemes to help stretch their dollar. This includes the Big Value Bag initiative, where more than 1,000 FairPrice, FairPrice Gold, Pasar and Pasar Organic housebrand products are sold at a 10 per cent discount.

Every Day Low Priced (EDLP) items offer the best value basket of popular brands while Yellow Dot products indicate the lowest-priced items. There are also monthly specials, weekly specials and "purchase with purchase" deals for shoppers to enjoy greater savings.

On top of these, all FairPrice members enjoy additional rebates and accumulate LinkPoints, which they can use to further offset their purchases.

We have since received much positive feedback on the Pioneers OK! programme, and will be conducting a review, taking into consideration the various suggestions and comments.
