Right to honour Paralympians

The fantastic feats by Yip Pin Xiu and Theresa Goh at the Paralympics have often been compared against the feats of Joseph Schooling at the Olympics.

Naysayers have said that the Paralympians' achievements cannot be compared to the feats of "normal" people.

I believe that even though Yip and Goh did not come up against legendary swimmer Michael Phelps, like Schooling did, they had to work twice as hard to attain the achievements that have made our nation proud.

Thus, it was right to honour them with a victory parade, just as we did for Schooling ("Ferrari owners add value to parade"; Sunday).
