The report, Kids find inner calm through mindful breathing (March 14), seems to have highlighted only the positive effects of mindfulness practices on young people.
Recent emerging academic studies show that such techniques could also have potential adverse effects.
Some of these negative effects include mania, depression, anxiety, psychosis and hallucinations.
Therefore, before we rush into introducing such practices into more schools here, more balanced discussions and studies should be conducted and reviewed.
