Rename MRT stations

The naming of the Botanic Gardens as a Unesco World Heritage Site proclaims to the world that not only is Singapore renowned for its squeaky-clean efficiency, but that we also want to punch above our weight in cultivating and preserving a natural oasis of tranquillity, right in the centre of a bustling metropolis ("Unesco title plants Singapore firmly on world map"; Sunday).

However, the names of two MRT stations around the Botanic Gardens have the potential to confuse visitors to the Gardens.

A station under construction at the main Tanglin gate will be named Napier while an existing Botanic Gardens station is actually at the lesser -used Bukit Timah gate.

May I suggest that the Napier MRT station be renamed Botanic Gardens (Napier) or Botanic Gardens (Tanglin Gate) and that the other MRT station's name be amended to Botanic Gardens (Bukit Timah Gate).

This small name change will make a visit to this flawless gem something any visitor will talk about for a long time to come.
