Provide job opportunities for those recovering from mental illness

I have always felt that people with mental illness can contribute as useful, active citizens when they are in the recovery stage.

Thus, yesterday's letters resonate with me ("Govt should remove mental health query on job forms" by Mr Liu Rijing, and "Tweak policies to provide more support" by Mr Ethan Lee Yew Eei).

To enable people with mental illness and their caregivers to have a purpose in life, we definitely need enlightened employers and supervisors who are not prejudiced against this group.

A little encouragement and support can go a long way in helping them to rebuild their lives, and recovery from mental illness takes time.

I suggest that provisions for part-time work be considered by employers.
