It was heartwarming to read the article about the Boon Keng Road rescue yesterday ("Passers-by rush to help man pinned under truck").
The more than 30 passers-by who rushed to lift a trailer truck to free a man pinned underneath should receive public commendations and acknowledgements for their timely assistance during our National Day and SG50 celebrations.
The report, which showcases the noble spirit of strangers helping another stranger, should be written up and retold in our schools during civics lessons.
Whatever walks of life those passers-by may have come from, they put themselves out there and were united in helping another human being in distress.
There is hope yet in our humanity and in our community.
