Parks should offer free parking

While I agree with Mr Patrick Low Soh Chye that Pandan Reservoir needs a revamp, park visitors will have to pay for the cost of upgrading later ("Pandan Reservoir needs a revamp"; July 10).

I jog at MacRitchie, Bedok and East Coast parks regularly. All of them used to have free parking but started charging for parking after upgrading was completed.

Since these are public parks, couldn't the authorities grant free parking for, say, the first two hours? This will encourage more people to visit parks more often and adopt a healthier, outdoor lifestyle.
