Only 1 wheelchair allowed on bus

Last Friday morning, when my mother, who uses a wheelchair, and I tried to board bus service 13 at Kallang Aperia Mall, the driver refused to let us in, even though the bus was not full.

His reason: There was already a passenger with a wheelchair on board.

I explained to him that I could fold the wheelchair, like a pram, but he insisted that we wait for the next bus. He said it was company policy.

Is Singapore's public bus system ready for an ageing population and people with physical disabilities?
