We agree with Mr Dan Boon Jiahao ("Time for tech update of siren system"; last Wednesday) that the Singapore Civil Defence Force's Public Warning System can be complemented by other types of communications platforms.

There is an ongoing study to review how our islandwide emergency alert system could incorporate the use of SMS alerts, mobile phone applications, electronic signboards and other communications platforms.
