Is a car-lite or car-less society truly the best way to go? It seems akin to removing all games from children because they play too much.
This is not a great solution, by any means.
Unless we have an army of trains and buses which are connected closely to every work place, there will be economic loss due to increased travel time.
Aren't we supposed to be constantly evolving and searching for new and better solutions?
Going car-lite is downgrading ourselves.
It would be cheaper and more convenient to simply evolve with technology, which will lead to the development of more environmentally friendly cars.
It is certainly plausible for a car-less society to perform as well as, or even better than, any other society.
But it requires a change of mentality and changes to our transport system to make our city more interconnected.
