More checks needed at childcare centres

To prevent children from being ill-treated, more checks should be made at childcare centres that receive bad reviews ("Alleged abuse at childcare centres under probe"; Feb 17).

Closed-circuit television cameras should be installed. The Early Childhood Development Agency should also ensure that caregivers are well-trained before they are allowed to work.

Checks should be done on the supplies given to the centres as well.

Childcare centres should be a safe and caring environment for children. The situation must be improved to ensure that children are cared for and protected.
