Many merits to quirky run

The Run for Good Durian Run was interesting (500 people run with durians for charity; July 24).

Such events indeed encourage the sporty and creative side of Singaporeans.

This original idea attracted the attention of many, thereby promoting the charity run widely and drawing more people to sign up for a good cause.

It is also a great bonding opportunity.

The sight of people decked out in different costumes and dragging their elaborately designed durian carriers behind them sparked light-hearted laughs, encouraged interaction and promoted a strong sense of togetherness in our community.

Last, but not least, it promoted a healthy lifestyle.

Hopefully, events like this would encourage more Singaporeans to exercise more regularly and be creative.
