Important to recognise signs of a stroke

The Singapore National Stroke Association aims to raise stroke awareness in Singapore through various avenues, including public education talks.

We are happy to see that the appropriate action was taken when it was suspected that someone was suffering a stroke (Private hospital's staff helped driver who had stroke and crashed; May 31).

It is important to recognise the signs of a stroke and to act quickly.

The acronym Fast can be used:

  • Face drooping
  • Arm weakness
  • Speech difficulty
  • Time to dial 995 Time is of the essence, and early treatment in a hospital, rather than at a primary-care facility such as a polyclinic or family clinic, improves outcomes for a stroke victim.
