I have friends in school who have attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
Although they put in effort and try their best, they still struggle with reading and focusing.
The Ministry of Education gives them extra time during examinations. However, this only makes sure that they are not at a disadvantage when competing with other students, and does not help them improve.
Thus, it is heartening to read that students from Singapore Polytechnic have developed a robot-cum-mobile application to help children with ADHD to focus better and learn better (Students invent robot that could help ADHD children to learn; ST Online, Jan 18).
Our education system must be praised for enabling innovative students to start inventing at a young age.
