Handling sick passengers: SIA replies

Singapore Airlines has policies in place for the handling of sick passengers ("Should sick passengers be allowed to fly?" by Ms Angela Xu Huifang; Thursday).

A passenger who is unwell must provide a medical certificate declaring that he is fit to travel.

During boarding, our cabin crew are also advised to assess the condition of passengers to identify anyone who appears to be unwell, and, if so, to inform the commander and ground staff.

A joint decision would then be made as to whether the passenger should disembark to seek medical attention.

We are in the process of looking into the matter raised by Ms Xu about her experience on her flight from London to Singapore.
