Fully establish MRT network first

Scrapping the Park & Ride scheme now would be untimely, as the MRT network has not been fully established yet, thus take-up rate may be low now ("End of the road for Park & Ride scheme?"; last Friday).

The scrapping of this scheme may not only lead office workers to drive to work, but will also inconvenience many commuters who have been taking advantage of it in support of the Go Green campaign to get to the city to work or shop.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) can find ways to deal with drivers who abuse this scheme, such as by requiring a resident to indicate his place of work when he applies for a Park & Ride season ticket. Before scrapping this scheme, the LTA must consider the setbacks that it may bring.
