Firm should re-examine own performance

Mr Leong Yee Keong should perhaps ask himself: Would he have granted an unsecured credit facility to a business with poor financials and no visible sign of near-term improvement (Risk-averse banking industry hurts SMEs; June 30)?

All financial institutions have a set of credit risk parameters to guide their lending decisions.

Each financial institution would have its own criteria, so if 12 financial institutions turned Mr Leong down, as an observer, I can only say that he may want to re-examine his business performance and consider what he can do to convince the financial institutions that he has a viable business with the capability to repay the loans.

Before I start complaining that I am not getting certain services, I always ask myself whether it makes sense to provide the service to me - if I were the service provider.
