We extend our apologies to Ms Lim Sin Yee and her husband over the unfortunate incident that occurred at Tanglin Mall on July 25 ("Near accident while riding faulty escalator"; Monday).

We called up Ms Lim to check on her well-being after the incident and are glad to note that she was not hurt, but is understandably still upset over the incident.

This matter was reported to Fujitec Singapore, which is the manufacturer and supplier of the escalators at Tanglin Mall, immediately after the incident and it is still investigating the cause.

We assure Ms Lim that the safety of our shoppers is our paramount concern and that the escalators at Tanglin Mall have been regularly maintained by Fujitec.
