Fallen barrier at carpark: TTSH replies

We thank Mr Tan Buck Yam for his feedback ("Fallen barrier at carpark: Who's responsible?"; last Friday).

On Sept 29 , Mr Tan parked his car outside the Emergency Department and found a broken gantry barrier in front of his car, with its bonnet dented.

Such third-party incidents are normally referred to our hospital insurers for assessment and follow-up. After investigations, our hospital's insurer informed Mr Tan on Oct 20 to contact the barrier contractor to further pursue the matter.

Understandably, the referral to different parties to resolve the matter has caused much frustration to Mr Tan.

We acknowledge that the incident could have been better managed and we offer our sincere apologies to him for this unfortunate experience.

We have since contacted him to address his concerns and will continue to stay in touch to offer him support.
