Don't stockpile masks beyond expiry date

I went to collect two pieces of 3M N95 masks - models 8110S and 9105 - from Thomson Community Centre last Friday.

When I checked 3M's website, I found that my mask model 8110S, which had the lot number 49334, had expired last November.

Why were these expired masks issued?

I noticed that the foam strip inside the expired mask crumbled easily, resulting in users breathing in the disintegrated particles.

When I raised this with the community centre, the staff said they would discard the expired masks, and issued me new ones.

I have also heard of senior citizens receiving mouldy masks.

We need to ensure that we do not end up stockpiling masks beyond their expiry dates and issuing them to the public.
