Display recipient's name as safeguard

I feel sorry for Ms Connie Cheong's brother and share the same fears about doing ATM transfers in Singapore ("Legal to keep mistakenly wired funds?"; Monday).

There is no recipient's name displayed after I key in the account number I want to transfer funds to.

It might be a good idea to install a feature in our ATMs where the recipient's name will be displayed.

This can act as a safeguard to ensure we are transferring funds to the correct party, as keying in a wrong digit in the account number can make all the difference.

Such a feature has been commonly available in ATMs in Medan, Indonesia, for many years.
