I strongly support the move to review the Carbon Emissions-based Vehicle Scheme (Vehicle carbon emissions scheme under review; Jan 4).
This is a crucial step towards solving the problem of climate change and reducing pollution levels.
The new scheme will consider pollutant levels, on top of carbon dioxide levels.
This is important, as vehicle emissions are equally or even more harmful to the human body.
Taxi companies have been encouraged to switch to hybrid or petrol-electric models, to reduce the use of fossil fuels and lower carbon dioxide emissions.
It would be good to bring other vehicles such as diesel lorries and vans under the scheme too.
The safe use of public transport and bicycles, which emit less pollutants, should also be encouraged.
