Bouquets: Staff member chases away Monday blues

Staff member chases away Monday blues

Every Monday, I go to FairPrice Finest at Block 202, Hougang Street 21 to buy milk, and supermarket staff member Sim Kwee Lan never fails to make my Monday blues go away.

She always greets me with a smile, no matter how busy she is or how tired she may be from working the midnight shift.

She even reminds me to collect the goodies I can get when I purchase my milk.

No matter how bad my Monday is, talking to Ms Sim for those few minutes makes my day.

Royal treatment at sailing club

I have visited many places, such as Sardinia, Hong Kong, Monte Carlo, Tahiti, Amsterdam, Newport, San Francisco, Auckland and London. But my wife and I could not have been more pleased by our welcome at the Changi Sailing Club (CSC).

General manager Edwin Low did his job so well that his efforts were nearly invisible, yet everything ran like clockwork.

The staff at reception were a delight, as were the skilled and careful launch drivers.

Mr Ronnie Tan, our daily go-to guy in the office, was never too busy to assist.

Even the wait staff at the Seamark restaurant were great.

The club bustled with activity, with racing, cruising and educational activities all week.

Sailors with special needs? No problem, the dock occasionally had as many wheelchairs parked on it as yachts moored to it.

My wife and I felt more like visiting royalty than visitors.

Everyone worked hard to make our visit a memorable one.

We are so grateful to all the men and women at CSC.Yes, Singapore is tiny - but it has a huge, generous heart, and that is on display at Changi Sailing Club.

Top-notch service and care at hospital

On May 4, I underwent a procedure at National University Hospital and was hospitalised.

I have only the highest praise for the staff - from the receptionist to the nurses and doctors at Ward 2A.

They were ever-vigilant, never failing to check the patients' temperatures and blood pressure, and to ensure we took our medication. They were patient, polite, cheerful and caring.

I also heartily thank Dr Rajeev Parameswaran and his team, who performed the surgical procedure. They were brilliantly skilled and professional, and followed up promptly the next morning.
