Bouquets: After-hours help for seniors

After-hours help for seniors

On the evening of June 20, I was passing by the Bedok MRT TransitLink office when I saw a group of senior citizens at the add-value machines just next to the office, struggling to top up their senior citizen travel cards with their SG50 vouchers. The TransitLink office was already closed.

They were on the verge of giving up when a young woman emerged from the office.

When she saw the crowd of anxious seniors, she went over to find out what the problem was.

Although it was well past her duty hours, she nonetheless helped them and cleared the queue before heading home.

Her action might have saved the day for this group of seniors, particularly for one of them who said he had travelled all the way from Jurong.

Quick response from officers

I commend two security officers at the Singapore Turf Club for helping my mother and me on June 28.

Mr Chandramohan Kanesan and Mr Muhd Hamidie Abdul Hamid went the extra mile to pick up my sick mother from the area's foodcourt in a buggy, upon learning about our situation at the security office.

They even drove us all the way to the taxi stand.

Nothing can describe my deep gratitude towards them. Without them, we would not have been able to reach the hospital in a timely manner.
