I am heartened to see that more recognition is being given to the achievements and abilities of special education students ("New award for special education students"; last Friday).

The award will certainly encourage special education students to step forward as role models for their peers, and boost their confidence in playing a bigger role in contributing to society.

I hope that our society will continue to be supportive of these special education students, to better integrate them into the community.
