I hope all public buses will be fitted with automated wheelchair ramps ("Auto ramps for buses under study"; Nov 12).
The ramps will make boarding and alighting more convenient for the elderly and those with disabilities.
Time and again, feedback has been given regarding bus drivers stopping their buses a distance away from the kerb.
Why do the majority of bus drivers have difficulty stopping their buses closer to the kerb?
I have seen elderly folk struggling to reach the kerb when alighting from the bus.
The situation is worse on rainy days when people try to open their umbrellas while alighting.
An auto ramp will form a bridge between the bus and the kerb, solving this longstanding problem.
