App can inform user if nearby hawker centre is closed

We thank Mr Soh Kar Chiang for his letter (App should tell people which hawker centres are shut; Sept 15).

The Hawker Centres section of the myENV app currently has a feature to inform the user, based on his Global Positioning System (GPS) location, which nearby hawker centre is open or closed because of renovation or spring cleaning.

For hawker centres that are closed, the app will also display the closest alternative hawker centres that are open.

The National Environment Agency (NEA) is working on further enhancing the myENV app, so that users can set an alert for hawker centres that will be closed for renovation or spring cleaning.

The enhancement is targeted to be rolled out early next month.

Other than the hawker centre alert, users can already set alerts on dengue clusters, the Pollutant Standards Index and lightning, to name a few.

The NEA appreciates the suggestions and we will c ontinue to work closely with the various stakeholders to improve the myENV app to enhance user experience.
