It is heartening to note that the food and beverage industry has been working on reducing food wastage, awards are being given out and an e-book with information on how food wastage can be reduced has been published - all to help those who are serious about tackling the problem ("Food waste: E-book's food for thought"; Oct 25).
However, would food establishments even read the e-book or implement the strategies inside?
Perhaps in giving out awards in future, the application of some of the strategies listed in the e-book could be among the judging criteria.
Alternatively, a law could be enacted whereby food establishments have to ensure they have measures in place to tackle food wastage.
