NEW YORK - A frustrated mother in the United States has created an Android app that allows parents to lock their kid's smartphone from afar if they ignore mum's phone calls.

Sharon Standifird, of Houston, Texas, who served in the Gulf war, worked with developers to create the app after her son repeatedly ignored her phone calls and text messages, reports in the US media said.

"I literally just started researching how to develop an app," she told CBS news.

And eventually launched Ignore No More.
