Straits Times Index gains ground for third consecutive day

Share prices on the Singapore bourse rose for the third straigth day, led by an upbeat overnight performance in Wall Street.

The key Straits Times Index gained 18.01 points or 0.59 per cent to 3,088.79.

The rise was in line with most regional bourses. Hong Kong's Hang Seng added 0.3 per cent while China's Shanghai Composite climbed 1.1 per cent. Japan's Nikkei 225 bucked the trend, closing 0.5 per cent lower.

Some 2.08 billion shares worth $1.04 billion were done. Gainers led losers 199 to 183 while 400 counters were unchanged.
