STI rises over 1 per cent on upbeat data from China

Share prices on the Singapore bourse rose with the benchmark Straits Times Index ending the day higher by 39.85 points or 1.31 per cent at 3,088.20.

Upbeat trade data from China signalling the resilience of the world's second largest economy fuelled a rally in other Asian bourses as well.

Gainers led losers 282 to 149 while 372 counters were unchanged. Turnover stood at 2.61 billion shares; the value of shares traded was worth $1.71 billion.
